I make money selling other people’s products online, and you can too.
But how?
Don’t you need to purchase products before you can sell them?
Don’t you need to find the right product before you stock them in your living room, hoping you just landed on a gold mine?
In a traditional business world, yes.
So many things that businessmen have to deal with when it comes to selling goods, and I love everything about it.
But welcome to 2019, where the internet has become the go-to for buying and selling goods.
You can see the trend when stores like Toys ‘R’ Us and other iconic businesses start closing shop.
It hurts to see but as an online entrepreneur, it gives you that sense of security.
So if you’re ready to jump on the trend and possibly make the type of income that most people only dream of, selling other people’s products online might just be your ticket.
I do it, and so do thousands of others living the laptop lifestyle.
So if you are looking to fire your boss and maybe make the internet your new career, this post is for you.
How Do You Make Money Selling Other People’s Products Online?
There isn’t one specific way and there aren’t a million ways to do it either.
A handful will work if you are ready to take the plunge.
Some require bigger investments, but some don’t.
Whatever the case, I’m sure you will find one that suits you and your budget’s needs.
But before you go thinking that you are going to be the next online sensation, let me give you a few things you MUST know.
For one, you are going to need to do a heck of a lot of learning.
So if you aren’t coachable and/or willing to learn, this might not work for you.
Two, this is just like any other business.
It is going to take some time, and it is going to require a lot of patience.
You will not get rich overnight (although it is possible with the right knowledge) and you might not even succeed.
But if you do have the work ethic, drive, and passion, I do not doubt that you will find success within the online space.
Lastly, do not fall for other gimmicks.
Once you start typing in keywords related to your business, your social media feeds will get bombarded with a lot of nonsense.
You will come across programs that talk down on the real ways to make money online, with the sole purpose of filling their pockets with your hard-earned money.
Don’t fall for them.
What I am about to show you is all you need, so stick with one and don’t look back.
If you can understand that much, the internet is and will be a wonderful place for you.
Now let’s get on with the show.
1. Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is my top recommendation for any newb looking to make money online.
This is the same exact way that I got started and is still accountable for at least 70% of my income online.
I mention this method of making money with other people’s products first because this is the cheapest way it can be done.
The investment is as low as it gets, and ANYONE can do it.
On top of it being really easy to start and a minuscule investment, there are other great benefits and things you don’t need, unlike a traditional business.
- You don’t need to purchase any products
- No storing of any products
- No dealing with shipping
- You talk to zero customers
- No technical skills are needed.
The concept of affiliate marketing is also really simple.
By simply applying to an affiliate network, you can then obtain your personal affiliate link.
From there, you will promote it through social media, your personal blog (see how to start one here), or any other approach you are comfortable with.
If someone clicks on that link and makes a purchase, you my friend will get a commission.
Commissions depend on each vendor and can range anywhere from 2% all the way to as high as 75%, depending on your niche.
Thanks to sites like Wealthy Affiliate you can learn everything as well as gain access to all the tools necessary to run an affiliate marketing business.
Not only are they the cheapest but they also offer a free trial so you can see what they have to offer before you commit to anything.
I am also still a member there, so I can help you along the way if need be.
2. Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA)
This is one of the most common ways people are making money with other people’s products online.
Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) is a way for online business owners to use the Amazon name to sell their products.
The process is not as simple as affiliate marketing and it definitely requires a lot more money to get started.
You are also required to purchase products and deal with shipping and customers as well.
However, the idea of doing things the FBA way is complete genius.
Not only are you using Amazon as your brand but you are also using them to take care of a lot of the heavy lifting.
Just like a traditional business, you will be purchasing products at a lower price, all while selling it higher to make a profit.
It is not illegal, and it is exactly how retail stores work in the first place.
The only difference is that it is done online and you are utilizing the trust and safety that Amazon provides.
Along with the biggest market in the world.
With this method, you will need a budget for advertising as that will be your best bet at throwing these products in front of hungry buyers.
I personally recommend Oberlo, so definitely check them out.
3. Drop Shipping
This is very similar to FBA, but this time you are not using Amazon to store and ship your products.
This business model is still awesome, but it also requires the kind of budget that you would need if you were to do FBA.
Instead of dealing with Amazon, you will go through drop shipping companies like Alibaba.
You will not need to purchase any products, but you will have to deal with shipping and customer service as well.
However, the business model is absolutely amazing, and I think you will like how everything works.
As a drop shipper, you will be creating an online store catered to whatever niche you feel like getting into.
Most drop shippers go with the obvious apparel, baby gear, and all the competitive items out there.
If you get something like Amazing Selling Machine, you will find the right products along with the right market with a higher chance of being a successful drop shipper.
I also recommend Oberlo, as they work directly with Shopify, but they are both great places to start.
But here’s how dropshipping works.
First, you will need to decide what your store will provide.
From there, you will partner up with Alibaba or whatever company you are comfortable with.
They will allow you to populate your site/store with their products, and you will be allowed to price them the way you want to.
When a customer places an order on your site, you will then make the purchase (using their money) and get that product sent directly to them.
Your job is to provide the product and find the best way to profit.
Advertising is also required to push sales, but it is all worth it if you are in the green.
Again, I recommend a company called AMS, so get started there, and you will learn everything you need to know when it comes to dropshipping.
4. Network Marketing
This is probably the most common way to sell other people’s products, and I’m sure a lot of you have come across this at least once in your life.
I was a part of quite a number of them, but this is probably the hardest of the bunch.
I’ve tried my luck with Melaleuca and Kyani, so you can bet that I know a lot more than the average network marketer newb.
Network marketing does not require you to own your own products, as they have them for you to promote and sell at will.
You do not need to purchase them yourself, but you will make money through the recruitment of others.
Usually, you will make a commission from the sales generated through the people under you, but there are other ways that money is made.
The best part about something like network marketing is the ability to earn money through the “multiple levels” that come with the business.
I think it’s great to earn through the sales made by the people brought in from the people you brought in.
If you are into recruiting, this might just be the gig for you.
It is pretty self-explanatory, so I won’t be getting into much about network marketing here.
You can check out this list of best MLM companies for the year, as there are many you can choose from.
Do know that this does require the same patience and dedication as every other business mentioned earlier.
5. Start a Blog
I did a complete post on how to start a blog, so you can check that out here.
Blogging is the best way for anyone to run a business online, and it is one that can utilize any of the methods I just covered.
By simply creating a simple website on any topic you choose, you can make money selling other people’s products online.
Whether it be drop shipping, affiliate marketing, or even network marketing, a blog is the absolute best way to do things.
Not only will you be talking about something you are already interested in, but you are in full control of how you monetize your site.
You can drop ship, use affiliate links, or even get paid through advertising.
The monetization is amazing, and you can do as you please.
I know this is last on the list, but it is definitely my top recommendation.
I think every business needs a website, and you will soon learn how this is going to be one of your biggest assets.

Frequently Asked Questions
I am in no way a legal advisor, nor do I plan on becoming one, but I do know the basics when it comes to running an online business.
I’m sure you have several questions that you want to be answered before you get started, so I will try to do so below.
Take my advice with a grain of salt, and do not for once think I’m here to give legal advice.
I am not a lawyer!
Again, I know the basic stuff that comes with things, but I just want to let it be known that I am in no position to give legal advice.
Is it Legal to Sell Other People’s Products Online?
Of course, it is.
Every method mentioned above is a real business model, and every online retailer is aware of it.
Most have programs and tools specifically designed for these business models, and they are all for other people promoting their products.
There are other companies that do disguise themselves as a legit affiliate marketing company.
But they are really nothing more than a high-ticket program.
These sites are recruiting-based and don’t come with any real substance.
They will have you spending thousands of dollars, so be careful with them.
Like I said earlier, they will flood your news feeds like crazy.
Do You Need a Business License?
Not necessarily but you might want to get one once the business starts to pick up.
Remember that this is a real business, and you need to treat it as such.
Not only to cover you legally but to give you the mindset to succeed within the online space.
Being that you are new, a business license is not necessary just yet.
You will definitely need one if you do hit that level of success, which I’m sure you will have no problems doing.
Do I Need to Pay Taxes?
You sure do, and in most cases, you are responsible for reporting it.
When you are just starting out, you will not need to report anything until you reach at least $600 worth of revenue.
Once you start raking in the dough, be ready to crunch some numbers and file your taxes.
Just like you would with your day job or any other business.
Do You Need a Website?
For the most part, yes, but it is not necessary.
I did an entire post on doing affiliate marketing without a website, but that is probably the only model that doesn’t require one.
Oh, and of course, network marketing, as all you need is your recruiting hat.
Drop shipping and FBA will definitely need a website, but you will learn all of that with any training you decide to go with.
Do You Need to Pay to Learn?
There are many free articles and YouTube videos that are completely free and will give you some insight into making money online.
However, you will find yourself paying at one point as nothing is ever really free.
And if you do decide to take the free route, be ready to scratch your head, as you will find yourself confused.
Don’t try to take any shortcuts.
Get with the right program, and you will be just fine.
Conclusion – Make Money Selling Other People’s Products
I love everything about the internet and how money is made.
Not only is it legal and ethical but it is something that I enjoy doing.
I think you will find the same enthusiasm as I have once you get a taste of everything.
I do recommend you go with one business model first and do as much learning as you can.
Definitely apply yourself, and you will achieve anything you put your mind to.
I also think you should start a blog of your own, as it is the ultimate business asset.
Not only will it allow you to sell other people’s products, but you can make money through other monetization methods.
Just like you see on here, you can create the same with an interest or passion of your own.
Besides that, I hope this post has shown you enough options for you to start an online business.
