Can you really make money with affiliate marketing and not have an actual website?
The short answer is yes.
The long answer is no, but…
Affiliate marketing is one of the simplest but most complicated things out there.
Just like the answers that come with such a question.
Without trying to confuse you more than you already are, I want to show you the best explanation you can get.
So to elaborate on the answers provided above, let me start off things with why you don’t need a website to make money with affiliate marketing.
Affiliate Marketing: Making Money Without a Website
Some marketers may argue that you need a website to make money in the affiliate marketing space, but you definitely don’t need one.
I have done it, and so have many others.
Not to say that I recommend it as I do believe that you should own a few, but I do want to show you how it can be done without one.
So how do you do it?
That’s exactly what I am about to show you.
But first, let me explain how it is even possible.
How to Make Money In Affiliate Marketing Without a Website
If you’ve ever heard of the Amazon Associates program, you might already know that they do in fact require you to own a website.
Without one and you will not get approved.
This goes with other big named affiliate networks, but that’s not always the case.
Several sites could not care less about how you promote their products.
They will approve you in a heartbeat, and you can literally start telling others about these products.
The problem with this is that many sites that will approve you don’t have as much trust as sites like Amazon.
No trust factor = Not many sales
Other than that, you can very much make money without owning an actual website and here’s how.
1. YouTube
If you have never heard of YouTube, then you might just be living under a rock.
YouTube is one of the most popular sites out there that provides videos of all sorts.
What some don’t know is that there are people (just like you and me) that are making millions of dollars every single year.
They make this money through ads, sponsorships, and, you guessed it.
Affiliate marketing.
This is one way that you can go about things not owning a site, but it will require a nice audience that you can promote to.
2. Facebook
This is another social media outlet where a bunch of marketers is promoting their affiliate links.
You can straight up post it on your wall, or you can use their advertising program.
What is very common nowadays is promoting affiliate offers through messenger.
People will send you a friend request, tell you a little about themselves, and start promoting various products to you.
Then again, some start promoting without even saying hi.
3. Pinterest
Similar to Facebook, you can promote your affiliate links within this platform.
However, this time you will be doing it in the form of pictures.
Instead of posting an awesome pic of some cool hack, you will post some kind of pic designed to sell something.
The most common ones are make-money offers, with promotions like Swagbucks and other free-to-join sites.
4. Instagram
This is the most popular form of marketing these days, and you can bet that affiliate offers are promoted a lot.
If you have a nice following, you can promote affiliate products directly to those that follow you.
And if you don’t, you can advertise on other popular accounts, which is what a lot of marketers are doing.
This is just one of the many ways social media is utilized with something so amazing as affiliate marketing.
4. Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising
This is your best bet when it comes to making money without owning an actual website.
With PPC, you will need quite the budget, but this can also be the best way to make the most money.
Rather than advertising and sending your audience to a website you own, you can send them straight to the affiliate offer instead.
As long as the affiliate network you are dealing with allows you to do so.
Good old advertising worked before, and it will always work now.
5. Cost Per Action (CPA)
I absolutely love doing CPA.
There is no better way to make money than by providing others with a value that costs $0.
By simply having someone signup for some kind of affiliate offer, you can make money.
There is no spending on their part, which is a win/win for everyone.
Some CPA sites do require you to have a website, but there are those that don’t really care.
6. Native Ads
Have you ever read an article on one of your favorite news websites and come to the bottom where you see a bunch of interesting articles?
In most cases, this is actually what online marketers know as native advertising.
Rather than doing traditional advertising through PPC and whatnot, native ads are very different.
This time you create an ad with affiliate offers that you will submit to a native ad provider, who will then feature this ad on different websites.
Instead of using a website you own, you will send them directly to an affiliate offer.
If you can find an affiliate product that can give you a decent return on investment (ROI), this method can be very lucrative.
7. Forums
This is the oldest trick in the book and one that I learned in the early days of my online career.
All kinds of forums out there had no filter whatsoever.
This allowed anyone and everyone to promote anything and everything.
These people would skip the whole website deal and send you straight to nothing but affiliate offers.
Some of you might be familiar with the Warrior Forum, where the most spamming of affiliate links happened.
8. Product Reviews
Who would’ve thought that you could make money on craigslist without even owning a product?
Well, that is possible, as they allow you to post almost anything on there.
Instead of posting a product that you own, you can give a quick review on why you think a product is so awesome.
From there, you drop your affiliate link and hope that someone buys what you have to offer.
9. Books
Probably not your favorite way to make money with affiliate marketing, as some of you are on this post because you don’t care about blogging.
However, if you still have a thing for writing, you can create a short e-book and sell affiliate products.
Place affiliate links where deemed necessary, and voila!
You just made money without even owning a website.
10. Whatsapp/Messenger
This landed last on this list for the sole reason of you having to know people.
If you know some family and friends that would love to help you make money, you can send some affiliate links directly to them via messenger.
Whatsapp allows you to communicate with anyone worldwide, so this would be a great way to market your affiliate links.
So when someone tells you that you can’t make money without a website, here are ten ways to show them.
Why Might Someone Say You Need a Website?
There are several reasons why anyone would tell you that you need a website to make money with affiliate marketing.
I can agree with them but only to a certain extent.
For the most part, a good majority of affiliate network sites REQUIRE you to own a website.
Don’t own one, and well, they will not entertain you.
It’s mostly because they want to control what happens, and no one wants to be known as a spammer.
Why I Think You SHOULD Own a Website
I did an entire post on what I think is the best way to make money online, and it goes over what I am about to tell you.
So you can check that out as well, but let me give you a summary of what is in that post and why I think you need or should own a website if you plan on doing affiliate marketing.
As an online marketer, you will dip your toes into all strategies until you eventually find the one that fits you best.
What you will learn is that websites (although not needed) will be your biggest asset when it comes to making money online.
Every single big-time affiliate marketer owns a website, and these same websites make them big bucks.
You probably won’t get that far with affiliate marketing without one.
Websites Are 10x Easier to Build
Welcome to 2019.
A time when the internet is a huge part of our daily lives.
Since it has been around for decades now, you can bet that evolution has happened in even a year.
It isn’t any different when it comes to websites.
Back in the day (less than ten years ago), websites were difficult to build.
Not only were they not easy to build, but you also needed the skills to create one.
These days, not so much.
Forget about any crazy coding that once was needed, and welcome to building a website with just a couple of clicks.
Literally.
So if you think that creating a website is beyond your pay grade, think again.
Building a website is way too easy, and you can have one up and running in less than 30 seconds.
Conclusion – Pick What Works For You
Rather than sitting here talking about what works and what doesn’t work, you know that anything can work as long as you work at it.
Take at least one method from this post, and I can promise you that you can make some money.
Now, if you want to do more than make a few bucks, you might want to consider getting your own piece of online real estate.
Well, there you have it.
In the same way, I made money with affiliate marketing that didn’t require me to own a website.
