As a stay-at-home dad myself, I didn’t start with a job.
As a matter of fact, I didn’t even start with anything at all.
I also did a post for stay-at-home moms, but this one is specifically catered to the man of the house.
Let me think she’s carrying everything on her shoulders until you start bringing home the bacon.
From home.
It is very much possible, and I want to show you how.
I have personally done most of the stuff on this list, but I am definitely using them to support my family.
Well, at least, I am about to get into the very first one.
1. Blogging
I don’t care how manly you think you are, this is one job that will make you feel like the ultimate man when the money starts rolling in.
If you have a passion or interest in something, you can make money as a blogger.
Whether it be flying a drone or golfing, there is some money to be made online.
Not only is it one of the few jobs that pay incomes most will only dream of, but it is the perfect job for anyone with kids.
We all want to spend time with our family, and we would prefer to do work whenever we please.
Well, that’s what you can expect if you were to start your very own blog.
In the summer, I would wake up early in the morning to get some work done.
This way, I would have more time with my kids throughout the day.
Now that school is back in session, I wake up at the same time that they do, and I get to work right after I drop them to school.
If I’m not at home working all over the house, you will find me at a coffee shop or some hotel lobby.
On top of the benefits already mentioned, the startup cost for a blog is beyond affordable.
Check out this post to learn more about exactly how blogging works and how simple and affordable it is to get started.
Bloggers can earn as little as a couple hundred bucks a month (by working less), but the income potential can hit $5k – $50k a month, depending on your knowledge and work ethic.
2. Start a YouTube Channel
If you haven’t heard, there are millionaires being created as we speak, thanks to this thing called YouTube.
You might not know it, but your kids might, and they could actually help you with this.
As a stay-at-home dad, what better way to make a living than by grabbing a camera and filming your kids doing whatever it is that they do?
Just like Ryan from Ryan Toy Reviews did to make his family $11 million dollars last year, you can film your kids unboxing toys.
Not to say that you will become the next YouTube sensation but just imagine making 1% of that.
That kind of income would do wonders for you and your family, and I think it is one of the best jobs for you stay-at-home dads.
Starting a YouTube channel is pretty self-explanatory within this Google article, but I also found some great tips on Adorama.com as well.
Check out those posts, and you can see how simple and profitable a simple YouTube channel can be.
And hey, you can spend more time with your family as you take them and your vlogging camera out into the world.
Just remember that you are running a real deal business, and vlogging is a real job.
Treat it differently, and you will not make it.
3. Tutor
Some of you dads might have some kind of teaching background, which is absolutely great if you want to make $22 an hour without having to leave your home.
Then again, I did run into someone at a coffee shop that was using this service so it can be done from anywhere, as long as you have a computer and an internet connection.
Thanks to sites like VIPKID, you can make such an income.
By simply teaching kids from China how to speak English, you can make this a part-time or even a full-time gig.
The job is done online and does require you to teach them through a video call.
According to their site, there are 600,00+ students and only 70,000 + teachers.
Obviously, there is a huge demand for more teachers, and you could very much be one of them.
There are some requirements, but they are pretty basic.
You can learn more on the actual VIPKID site, so do visit if this is something you might be interested in.
4. Virtual Assistant
This is probably the most common and easiest job to get on this list.
You don’t need much technical knowledge, and the job is really easy to do.
Schedule appointments, assist with daily tasks, and take care of all the little stuff that bigger companies aren’t necessarily interested in wasting time in.
Lucky for you, they are willing to pay some good money for such a simple job.
You might need to know how to work with programs like Microsoft Word or Excel spreadsheets, but that will depend on you.
5. Proofreader
Calling all grammar police.
If you have a thing for poor grammar and can’t seem to use a shortcut version for a text message, then this is the job for you.
Unlike you, there are many people and big companies that need their work checked.
They don’t have the time to look over anything they’ve written, and they need people like you to do the job.
Of course, there are some requirements for such a job, as you can’t just trust anyone because they know how to use Grammarly.
This job focuses on fixing grammatical errors in books, magazines, newspapers, and websites right before they are about to get published.
6. Graphic Designer
I know quite a number of people that do this job.
They have gone from doing all kinds of jobs to doing graphic design full-time.
Traditionally, you create visual concepts by hand.
In this day and age, you can bet that everyone is veering towards the use of computer software.
I am no graphic designer but with my Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet, I have sure created some pretty cool designs that I was actually proud of.
For those of you who are just that good at designing things and are very familiar with programs like Photoshop, this is the job for you.
You don’t need to be the best artist either, as sites like Fiverr.com can get you paid according to your skill level.
7. Freelance Writer
If writing is your thing, but you don’t want to go through the steps of creating your own blog, this is the job for you.
Freelance writing is just like every other freelancing job out there.
You find others that need your service, and you get paid for doing the job.
As a freelance writer, you will get paid depending on the person hiring.
Initially, you will most likely get paid per article based on word count.
The prices range anywhere from $10 – $100+, which will be determined by word count and the given topic.
You can do work for as many people as you want, but you will develop relationships as you progress.
If you do some awesome work, you can bet that you will have more work on your plate.
With sites like Contena, you can learn everything you need about freelance writing and making the most of your work.
For those of you ready to hit the ground running, here are some freelance writing sites I recommend.
8. Data Entry
Input data.
That’s what you will be doing if you decide to do something like data entry.
This job usually consists of taking data from actual documents and uploading it onto a computer.
These days, the job requires you to upload data into an online database.
It’s not the most fun job out there, but this is a great place to get started.
Gain some experience, and then you can take on other jobs that require more skills and knowledge.
9. Photographer
There are millions of photographers these days, but not many are making the money they should.
I see too many people with a serious passion for photography that just don’t try to do more with their work.
Sure, it’s something you enjoy, but with the internet, there is always a way that you can make money with your hobby.
Whether you have some fancy DLR camera (is that what they’re called?) or you snapshots with your smartphone, there is money to be made.
You can start a photography blog, sell your photos, or even give some lessons on photography.
Photography Jobs Online will show you the best ways to sell the images that you already have on your phone, so you can check them out to make some quick cash as well.
10. Social Media Marketer
Everyone and their mothers are on social media, and you most likely are too.
What if you could make money just for being on there, wouldn’t that be nice?
Well, you can if you have a huge following, as you could get sponsors and make money off of pure volume alone.
For you, that is likely not the case, or you wouldn’t be looking for a job to begin with.
However, there is a way that you can make money with social media.
Companies, large and small, are looking for someone to manage their social media pages.
Respond to comments, approve and disapprove things, along with helping the overall company build its brand and presence.
If you have a nice background in marketing, companies are willing to pay you good money to help them stand out from the crowd.
Why Work From Home…Especially Online?
I don’t want to work from home, said no one ever.
Working from home is a dream for many.
Making money on the internet often follows that dream.
Thanks to the many scams that will probably never disappear, the real opportunities are often hidden.
This leads to a whole lot of skepticism and a bunch of cautious individuals.
Then we have those wantrepreneurs who have tried and failed in the process.
There are a few reasons as to why most people aren’t making a living online, but there are definitely a lot more reasons why they should.
Some are obvious, but there are some that only a real online entrepreneur will understand.
Freedom
There aren’t many jobs that allow you to do whatever you want, whenever you want.
If you want to go and watch your kids perform at school, you can.
If you want to be there when they get home, you can.
Working from home comes with a luxury that most people will never experience in their lives.
It’s a sad truth, but it is simply a reality.
You Are the Boss
I find it funny when my friends involved with some kind of network marketing business claim to be the boss.
You can’t make such a claim if you are coming into a company, making other people money.
You can’t come into something and lose money if someone you enrolled decides to quit tomorrow.
With the real jobs online, you are in full control of what you do.
If you want to make money, you put in the work.
And if you don’t feel like making anything, you sit back and watch Sports Center.
You Set Your Hours
Just like any business or job out there, you still need some kind of structure when it comes to working from home or on the internet.
Sure, you can chop up your schedule and work some odd hours throughout the day but if you’ve been doing this stuff long enough, you will know how unproductive things get.
Now, that does not take away from the fact that you can work whenever you want.
I find myself working early in the morning, right after lunch, or even right before bed, like I’m doing right now.
You are in full control of when you want to work, which is a great thing but can also be a bad thing for those of you who can’t manage your time.
Savings
Working from home allows you to save money in so many areas of life.
Save on fuel by not having to drive to work every dog-gone day.
Forget about spending on an overpriced daycare by staying home and watching the baby.
You can also skip eating out for lunch with your coworkers and save some money by eating at home.
You will save thousands of dollars a year if you find a way to work from home.
The Biggest Market Right at Your Fingertips
The internet is really an amazing tool that can provide a living for you and your family.
I don’t care what business you decide to take on, there will never be a bigger market than what you have right in front of you.
This is the same reason I quit my day job and why I figured out this whole make money online thing.
There is enough money to go around for everyone, and it will only benefit you if you at least give any of the jobs mentioned above a try.
Conclusion – Work From Home
I can not tell you how grateful I am to be able to work from home.
My family appreciates it, and I wouldn’t trade it for any other job out there.
Being a veteran, I know how it is to work for others and not be able to win at life.
With the internet, you can do things that most people can only dream of.
Don’t take anything for granted, but please do yourself a favor and at least give the work-from-home world a try.

I’m sure there are more out there, but these are the best ones you’ll find out there.
