Sometimes apps can be very sketchy and downloading them is not the best idea.
Some are completely useless, while others get you in and then ask you to pay some money.
Those same thoughts and ideas come with something like Shopmium and that’s why I put together this review.
I know we all want to save some money and make even more of it but sometimes doing more results in making less.
So will Shopmium be one of those burdens in the financial department?

Shopmium is legit and offers actual cash back unlike other GPT sites. The biggest problem anyone would have is the fact that it is only available in the UK, France, and Belgium. Besides that, they are really good all around.
What is Shopmium?
Shopmium is a cashback app, but with a twist.
As well as the usual opportunities that come along with the typical saving money opportunities, you will be paid to try items. In some cases, you will be given some for free, which is quite refreshing.
They have been around since 2016 and recently have been receiving more attention with more users using the app.
How To Start Getting Cashback?
The setup for getting started with Shopmium is straightforward and will take just a few minutes to complete.
Now you will need a mobile device to continue; it doesn’t matter which as it works on both IOS and Android.
After installing the app, the first job you have to do is make an account.
I’ve already gone ahead and made myself one, but what you will need to do is put in your email address and a password making sure you follow all the requirements.
On the next step you can if wish to opt into special offers and promotions through your email, however its entirely optional.
After that, you are ready to save money. There are three ways to go about this, so let’s talk about that now.
Ways To Earn With Shopmium
There are 3 ways to earn with Shopmium, which is always cool.
This is also very common with other apps as well, just like how Waldo does things.
I personally pick and choose my apps wisely as there are quite a number of them out there.
Shopmium just so happens to be one I like and the reasons below will explain why.
Shopping In-store
First up, we have the primary way, and that is shopping in-store. On the app, you have the choice between 5 major supermarkets in the UK (you will have different shops if you registered under another location) which you can choose your preference.
Once you have selected a store, you will have a list of items that you can purchase all with there own offers.
What is quite handy is you can look to see if there’s anything you usually by or even similar, from there you can add them to your basket and right there you saved some money.
Some of you may be wondering just how the cashback works for this; what you will need to do is buy the product as you would normally.
Make sure to keep hold of the receipt as it will be required for the next step.
Once you’ve got home, open up the app and upload that receipt by taking a photo of it. Shopmium will read it see you have brought the item and credit the cashback into your account.
Another aspect to note is you can only try each item once. Its also once per person as stated in their terms.
Cashback Online
The more common way that people refer to when it comes to cashback is doing it via online shopping. On the app you will see at the top a switch button so can go back and forth between in-store and online.
What will come up is Shopmium’s featured offers which you can look through. You can also browse through the categories and choose a store that way.
Referring Others
The above two ways will save you money, but Shopmium also offers a way for you to earn cash through there referral program.
For each person you refer to the app you will get a £3 bonus, they will need to make at least one cashback purchase for you to understand that.
It doesn’t stop there as there are a few terms, you will then need to do a purchase yourself to unlock that some of that credit.
Let me explain; you will get 100% of the cashback you get. So if you get £1, you will get another £1 from it to make it £2. Whatever you have remaining stays in your referral balance until you have made the required purchases.
I know it’s a little confusing to understand initially, but it gets easier to pick up the more you use it.
How Do You Receive Cash Back?
To get your cash back, there are two means in which you can receive through.
You have PayPal and Bank Transfer.
To add it you will need to go to your ‘profile’ then to ‘preferences’ and add a payment method there.
PayPal will take up to 3 days to process whereas Bank Transfers will take slightly longer at up to 7 working days.
Shopmium Club
Shopmium has a loyalty program where users can get extra rewards by moving up the levels.
You start on bronze and are required to do a few primary tasks to go to silver.
That consists of making your first cash back purchase, adding an offer and getting the first payout.
By continuing to use the app and doing more cash back tasks, you will move up the levels and get loyalty benefits along the way.
Pros Of Shopmium
Free food and drink!
Everyone loves free stuff, and one thing the app offers is food and drink without having to use your money.
Not every item is free with most giving you a discount; however, it does make doing your groceries shopping cheaper, which is what most people are looking for in a cashback app.
Doesn’t cost a penny to join.
One of the best aspects is costs nothing to use them; you can save money without having to sign up for some membership.
As long as you have a device that supports the app, your good to go.
All you need to do is do the shopping as you usually do and you will get the rewards later on.
Get your hands on newer items.
The direction they want to take with this app is around doing consumer research and finding out peoples shopping habits. A lot of the items I found were either brand new or had changes in design/taste.
That means not only are you finding out about items as soon as they hit the shelves, but you get to benefit by testing them out cheaper.
Cons Of Shopmium
Not Every Product is available at each store.
If you live in a place where you only have two of the shops, then that could be an issue. Not every item is available at each store with some even being exclusive to just one.
So if there is a product you want to try however it’s in a store out of your radius, then that is quite disappointing.

Shopmium is legitimate and an app that has brought a lot of interest over the past few years.
They offer several opportunities not only to save money but to make money at the same time creating a great app to bring into your life.
