Here’s How to Turn Your Passion Into Money With a Simple Website

There is no better job out there than one that you enjoy.

What’s even more exciting is when you can do it all from the comfort of your home. Or anywhere you feel like working for that matter.

What if you could make money with something you are interested in?

Would you do it?

Some of you will probably be like “Heck yeah” while some of you might be like, “Okay what do I have to do this time”.

If you are a part of the latter, you are most likely on the get-rich-quick train and you probably aren’t interested in putting in any work.

If that is you, this post is not for you.

Now if you are a part of the Heck Yeah community, you’ll like what I’m about to get into.

But before we get into the details, let me give you a little insight into who I am and why you should even trust me.

This will be about how I make money with my passion and not my life so that you can read more here for my life story.

Who I am

Long story short, I was once broke and living with mom (with two kids) until I turned to the internet.

After falling for some scams, I finally found something that worked and the rest was history.

I’ve been working from home for the past decade and I make my living through a website and some things that interest me.

My passions.

Very much like brokeveteran.com, I have other sites that I share other interests with and that is exactly how I make my living.

I talk about different topics in different niches and through my efforts, I get paid.

That is also what I will be going over with you today, so if you are ready to turn your hobby or interest into possibly your next career, allow me to show you the way.

It All Starts With Your Passion

Any business, whether on or offline, will start with a passion or at least some kind of interest you might have.

My first business venture was in the real world and it started with a nice little bar. Not the kind of interest you want when you’re running a physical business but that’s where I got my start.

I went from hero to zero in less than a month, and I had to move on from there. That’s what led me to the internet, along with other passions.

My venture into the online space was no different as I went with another passion of mine. This time it wasn’t drinking and socializing but something more along the lines of being more mature.

This interest was in making money, and that is exactly what I got into. So whether you like playing golf or baking cookies, you need to think about what you are interested in.

And yes it can be anything.

But besides that, at least we have a starting point that you can eventually make money with.

Once you have that in place, it’s time to get some online real estate. Just like the bar I used to own, your passion is going to need some rental space, or it won’t work.

A Home For Your Passion

This time, I didn’t have to pay thousands of dollars on overhead costs as this is the cheapest place to own and run a business. All you need is a simple website that is going to cost you nothing close to what a real business will run you.

There are a few components that come with a website, and altogether the prices will vary. You are required to have these components, and I will give you an idea of what you need and how much you will spend.

• Website Domains – Every website comes with a domain name. Mine is brokeveteran.com, and you can choose whatever name you like as long as it is available. The price ranges anywhere from $10 – $15, depending on the provider.
• Web Hosting – This is a very important part of your business, and there are dozens of providers out there. You are looking to spend between $2 – $100 every single month and you need it or your site won’t work.
• Website Builder – This usually comes with your domain provider or your hosting provider but sometimes you will have to pay. Besides these three things, nothing else is necessary to have your site up and running.

How Money is Made

With a website in place, some of you are curious as to how you will make money. It’s very common to wonder about this, but there is a lot to learn before you will make a single penny. That’s what I will cover next.

One website is all you need to make money online, and although I own over 20, it brings in most of my income. I say this because there are several ways that you can monetize just one website.

You can read more here on why I think it is the best way to make money online, but I want to show you how money is made.

Advertising

This is the most popular way for any website to make money. You see them all over the place and the owners of these sites are getting paid whether you do anything or not.

There are different ways to make money with ads though. You can get paid per click (PPC), which is how Google pays its advertisers. The pay isn’t much, but if you have a lot of traffic, your income can climb.

My favorite way to make money with ads is through pay-per-view (PPV). By having visitors simply “view” the ad on your site, you will make money. You will make more money at a much faster rate.

Affiliate Marketing

This is my favorite way to make money online, although it does require visitors to take some kind of action. This method involves products, but you do not need to own or purchase them.

You do nothing more than become an affiliate with companies like Amazon, Macy’s, or any other online retailer. Once approved, you will have access to your personal affiliate link, which you will use to add to your site. With some clicks and making a purchase, you make money.

Sponsorships

Sometimes website owners make money in a way that you won’t even notice. This can be done in several ways, and the pay is not bad.

First, you can have people guest post on your site. They will pay you just to feature their post which they can use to leverage your traffic and your site’s authority.

Secondly, they can post typical ads on various parts of your site. These promotions are usually promoting their product, and the pay will vary, depending on how much traffic your site gets.

Are you seeing the potential of what a single website can do? Well, it’s really amazing, and you can be in profit too as long as you are willing to put in the work.

Things to Know

Before you go thinking you are going to get rich overnight as others promise, I would love to be the bearer of bad news as it is only right. You will not get rich by simply building a website, nor will it happen with a single blog post.

Making money online requires work just like any other job out there. It might not be the hardest, but you dictate what you will make. Work harder and put in more hours, and you will make more money. Work less and treat it like a hobby, and you will make less. It’s that simple.

Your website is like a plant. It is going to take several months before you see any results, and that’s just how it is. Depending on how much work you put in, it can take as long or as short as you want it to be, but just know it isn’t going to happen overnight.

Remain consistent, build your site regularly, and you, my friend, will be in business. There’s no other way around this, so do exactly as I said, and you will see results.

Getting Started

I know everything I mentioned sounds simple, and that’s because it is. The hard part is putting the pieces together and making that money.

Making money online requires the right mentality and tools, but you also need the right training and support. Those two go hand in hand and will make or break you if you are unwilling to learn.

I got my start at a site called the Wealthy Affiliate, and that is what you need to succeed. Now if you know more than the average bear and already own your site, you might be fine.

With the help of a community of online entrepreneurs, though, you can do a lot more than when you go at it alone. Now the best part about all this is that I am still a member of that site.
