We all have hobbies or at least something we are interested in, and making money with it is not something we often think about.
How could I make money with my guitar without competing with the Eric Claptons and Santanas out there?
I’m no Picasso but I absolutely love to paint and can’t see how to make a career with it.
Can I make money with my drone that I enjoy playing with without entering a Drone League to race against other drone enthusiasts like you see on TV?
The real world comes with many challenges, and making money with a hobby is not the easiest thing to do.
So what do you do?
You take it to the internet, where being a professional is not a requirement and probably even better.
But before we get started, I want to go over something that you need to be aware of.
Scammers.
Some of you might even encounter this craziness on a daily basis.
“Make $10,000 like me”
“Live the life you’ve always dreamed of”
“Checkout my Lamborghini”
I know this because that’s what got me interested in making money online in the first place.
What I did learn is that all the fancy houses and cool lifestyles is nothing but a way for you to buy their products.
They are most likely a high ticket, recruiting based program that you will buy and then resell it in order to make money.
Don’t fall for them.
Now what I do have is 5+ years of experience on the internet.
I’ve done anything and everything that claims to make you money.
Why does that matter?
Well, because I know what works and what doesn’t.
Now with your hobby or simple interest, I want to show you how valuable it really is.
So How Do You Make Money Online With Your Hobby?
There is actually a couple of ways that it can be done.
Rather than giving you just one thing to choose from, I’m going to give you some options.
They are all legit ways and they are also what I recommend.
Do know that they will require some kind of work and maybe even an investment.
Whichever one you do decide to go with, I can promise you that you will make some kind of money.
Try one or the other to start but don’t try to do any of the two at once.
See which one interests you the most and give it a shot.
I am a also a real person, so you can leave any questions you might have in the comments section following this post.
But without wasting anymore time, let me show you some real ways that you can make money with your hobby, all from this wonderful thing called the internet.
1. Start a Blog
This is probably the best way to make money online with your hobby, without having to be anything close to good at it.
If you simply love what you do, sharing it with the online world is a great way to make a living.
This is what I do myself and one that accounts for almost all my income.
I run several blogs with different interests that range from cool man gear, all the way to survival.
I did a complete guide on starting a blog, so you can check that out if this is something you might be interested in.
However, the steps are also pretty simple.
You will need a website, some hosting, and the ability to write about that hobby of yours.
If that’s something you can or want to do, you can make your living online with your hobby.
Now there’s of course more to the equation and that’s why I recommend a program called Wealthy Affiliate.
There you will learn exactly how to make money with your blog and you also get access to a community of online entrepreneurs that will help you along the way.
You also get a free WA trial that will give you the ins and outs of how everything works, so definitely take advantage of that.
2. Create Your Own Course
As long as you know more than someone else about anything in life, you are considered the expert.
What most people don’t know is that with such simple knowledge comes the opportunity to make money.
Not just money but also a change in lifestyle that you never thought possible.
With something like the internet and Clickbank, you can create a simple product that will show others how to do something.
You do not need to be any kind of expert, but you just need to know more than someone who is new to whatever it is that you can teach.
With programs like Clickbank University, you can learn how to create a product that others will promote without having to do any extra work.
This is one of the more profitable business models on the internet, so do consider this if you know that you have value to offer others.
3. Become a YouTuber
I can not stress enough about how big YouTube really is.
With such a simple platform, millions of people are making their living by creating simple videos on something they are simply interested in.
What makes you think you can’t do the same?
Take your phone (for now) and start creating content based on that hobby of yours.
Once you start making money, you can upgrade to one of those fancy cameras that these vloggers use.
Vlogging is very much like blogging but in video form.
As long as you understand something like keyword research and gaining followers, you can create an income that will have you one heck of an income.
If you want some extra help with this, you can do a simple Google search on “how to start a youtube channel.”
4. Social Media Influencer
Who in the world is not on social media these days?
Everyone and their mothers are literally on some kind of social media outlet, and that’s just the world we live in.
What you might not know is that there is a lot of money to be made from something we are all already using.
The idea is also very simple.
You take your social media account to another level.
Post things that you see other interesting people are doing and build your following.
Network with other influencers and build from there.
Once you have a decent amount of followers, there are companies that will contact you to feature their products.
There isn’t much work to be done here but there is lots of money to be made.
5. Write
Sometimes, starting your very own blog is not something you think you can do.
Even if I know you can and will make more money.
However, there is always that chance to make money by simply writing for someone else so you can avoid dealing with owning a website.
So many people are looking for others to write for them.
Some bloggers, myself included.
I’ve paid top dollar for a single blog post, so I know how much money can be made with something like writing.
Imagine doing one article for $100.
Now imagine doing 5 of those a week.
Now imagine doing that for 5 different clients.
The earning potential is definitely amazing and one that can have you working from home full-time.
6. Affiliate Marketing
How does making money selling other people’s products sound?
This is one of the ways I make most of my money online, and the idea is absolutely amazing.
This method is usually done with a website, but you can make a lot of money without a website using this method.
Affiliate marketing also uses a very simple concept.
Become an affiliate with companies like Amazon, eBay, Walmart, or any other company that allows you and get your personal affiliate link.
If someone clicks on that link and makes a purchase, you will get paid.
This goes great with a blog and social media, so keep this in mind if you do decide to use one of those methods.
Wealthy Affiliate is also a great place to learn more about this, so don’t forget to check them out as well.
7. Become a Freelancer
If I was not blogging for a living, you can bet that this is probably one of the other jobs I would be doing.
Okay, maybe it’s not a job, but rather a business venture.
Freelancers are the ultimate self-employed machine that can dictate how much they will make.
Just like a writer, you can get as many clients as you’d like, depending on what you can handle.
However, freelancers can do it all.
You can write, design websites, and every other thing that you see on sites like Fiverr.com.
Put that skill or trade to use and make money on the internet as a freelancer.
I’m affiliated with many freelancers, and most of them come from projects that they’ve worked on for me in the past.
Before You Get Started
The internet is obviously a great place to make money with your hobby, but there are also some things you need to understand.
I know you’re excited, but you need to understand some things, or you will find yourself in some trouble later.
There isn’t much, but it is something you should know before you even consider doing any of the stuff I just mentioned.
Let me go over them a bit faster, as I’m just as excited as you are.
Distractions
I’ve already gone over the fact that there are scams, but this was one point I missed.
These scams know exactly what you are going to do to try and make money online, so they will use that against you.
They’ll try to show you a “better way” or tell you that whatever you are doing doesn’t work, but please do not believe a single thing they say.
Of course, there are many other things like social media that will distract you, so try to stay focused on what you set out to do in the first place.
You Must Commit
Every single idea above will require you to make a commitment.
Money is not going to come flowing in immediately like you see all over the internet, but that should not stop you.
If you are going to come into this business thinking that you can do it half-assed, you’re better off not even trying.
This kind of stuff requires you to give it everything you’ve got.
If you can’t do that, you’re not going to make it.
Remain Consistent
Being committed is one thing, but you also need to understand this thing called consistency.
The formula for a successful online business is to be consistent.
If you decide to blog, you need to create content on a regular basis.
Don’t go creating 5 posts in one day and then disappearing for a month.
It doesn’t work that way.
If you’re going to become a freelancer, don’t get a client and then stop there.
You need to work on getting more and more until you are flowing at a more consistent basis.
Do Not Give Up
There are way too many people who come into the world of making money online and quit.
They don’t just quit, but they give up after putting in months of work.
Very much like the image above, that is exactly how things are on the internet.
Everything starts with excitement and lots of work.
Give it some time, and that excitement disappears, and the work starts to slow down.
That will then lead to the thought that this crap doesn’t work, and then you quit.
this is also the same reason why there is a 1%, so keep that in mind before you decide to throw in the towel.
Conclusion – Make Money Online With Your Hobby
What’s better than doing something you actually enjoy?
Making money while you do it!
Well, that’s what you can do on the Internet, and it is very much available to anyone.
Get out there and start something that might just be the biggest decision of your life.
